· As of June 1, 2024, decisions to defer the announcement of the verdict can now be appealed.
· For decisions given as of June 1, 2024, the time limits for applying to legal remedies will be “2 weeks,” and these periods will begin with the “notification” of the reasoned decision.
· Persons who have been subjected to judicial control obligations, such as not leaving the residence or undergoing treatment in a hospital to be free from addiction, and who have received a decision of non-prosecution or acquittal, can also request compensation for material and moral damages.
· Requests for compensation for material and moral damages due to certain protection measures applied within the framework of the Code of Criminal Procedure will be made to the Compensation Commission instead of the Heavy Penal Courts.
· Changes in the procedure for determining the judge who will conduct the trial if there is an objection to court decisions in the simple trial procedure applied in criminal courts of first instance will also be implemented as of June 1, 2024.
· Changes in the conditions for processing special category personal data and the procedure for transferring personal data abroad will also be implemented as of June 1, 2024. In addition, the provision that administrative fines imposed by the Personal Data Protection Board can be contested in administrative courts instead of criminal judgeships of peace entered into force on June 1, 2024.
· Judicial fines for crimes committed as of June 1, 2024, have been increased (the lower limit increased from 20 TL to 100 TL, and the upper limit increased from 100 TL to 500 TL).
· The amount of prepayment for crimes committed as of June 1, 2024, has been increased (calculated as 100 TL instead of 30 TL per day).
· The finality threshold for judicial fines directly imposed by criminal courts has been increased from 3,000 TL to 15,000 TL as of June 1, 2024.
· The finality threshold for objections to decisions given by the criminal judgeships of peace regarding administrative fines has been increased from 3,000 TL to 15,000 TL as of June 1, 2024.
